Picked it up this afternoon. It's in decent shape. Hood is a tiny bit faded, and there are a few things to fix, but overall, I'm happy. Tires are in great shape.

What's the tiny motor and the gear thingy all about? This is just a cup-o-stuff he threw in the bed.

Thats a Fwd/rev switch in the green cup thing, but that green cup thing soes not even go with that gator and that is also a power wheels foot pedal for an old three prong rocker foot switch. That motor and other parts do not go with the gator eaither.... the only thing I was thinking was that it may have had the power dump but I am pretty sure that is not power dump parts.

Interesting. Thanks.

I'll be buying the power dump kit as well as the HLR upgrade kit. Some new headlight lenses, the red knobby things that hold the seat in, a windshield, etc...

As long as I'm buying peg stuff, I might as well get what I need to finish the polaris 700 at the same time.

I'm not sure what my plans are as of yet. Still thinking. I don't think I really want to change it too much. Chloe will enjoy hauling stuff for mom when she helps with the gardening. I imagine she'll have a few baby dolls in the dump bed as well.

Maybe a fresh coat of paint and a new decal sheet. Some LED lights (would you expect anything less of me?) and the previously mentioned upgrades.

If anyone has any suggestions of things they'd like to see done to a gator, I'm all ears.

It looks like a Gaucho shifter. You might be able to work it in someway. Might be sturdier than the Gator shifter from what I've read.

It would look good. There is a member who painted his girls Jeep into a camo jeep, and it turned out really good. I can't remember who it was, but they haven'y posted in a long long time. The Jeep looked really good though. I'll post the link if I find it.

Just MY opinion, but if you go camo, at least have SOME solid color accents, like the wheels, seats, dash, grill guard, etc. to break it up a bit. I think this may be the one Eric is talking about. Looks like he put a lot of work into it. http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=951&SearchTerms=barbie

Yeah, I remember seeing that one. Looks sharp.

That's along the lines with what I'm thinking. I do like the classic john deere green though, too.

It needs paint regardless.

Got the power dump kit installed today. Took a little modification to fit. Apparently it wasn't meant to be used with the old style gator. Works great.

Also put in the HLR upgrade kit. It's ALIVE!!

Just in time, too. Built a planter box for the wife, so Chloe helped haul dirt to it with the gator. She looked so serious. LoL
Afterward, cleanfreak Chloe had to hose 'er down and get the dirt out.

She very much enjoyed the 'utility' of the gator, so I'm not sure I'll do much with it other than some lights. One thought was some bed liner in the back. I have a feeling she'll want to haul stuff now on a daily basis.

Good. New shifter shifts pretty smoothly. New wire harness was great. Even had the power hook-up for the power dump kit, where I'd had to have run aux power with the old harness.

Someone was asking how I installed the power dump kit. It was actually pretty easy, even thought the instructions included in the kit said it won't work with the old gator. Bah. Everything fits with enough elbow grease.

After I removed the pin, old piston and chute thingy, I had to grind out some of green plastic to give clearance for the powered piston assy to fit in. I think I had to trim about 1/8 to 1/4" from each side. Had to force it a little, but it snapped right into place.

37.37 KB

To supply power to the dump bed, the switch box needs a 12v connection. This was easy since I also picked up the HLR upgrade kit.
http://kidswheels.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=856008&category_id=855777&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=47
Otherwise you'd just have to run 12v to the connector.

61.45 KB

41.61 KB

The switchbox screws neatly to the passenger side of the seat with existing hardware. Easy as that.

If you're having any shifter or wiring problems, I'd recomend the HLR kit if you're getting the power dump kit. Just having the new wiring and the extra connector makes it worth it.

Well, we're getting ready to move. I asked Chloe which one of her 'jeeps' she'd want to part with, since I could stand to lose one anyway (and not have to move it). After much thought, (and convincing her I can build a trailer for the polaris) she decided to sell the gator to a neighbor who has 2 girls and only one Dora jeep. They're constantly fighting over it as Chloe is surrounded by PWs. I always felt a little guilty. It'll get used now anyway. That's what matters.

Beautiful house CJB! And HUGE shop! Congratulations!

I know this isn't as fun as building a trailer, but I have one of these that I LOVE...

600lb. capacity, pneumatic tires, watertight, turns on a dime, rear axle rolls forward for balance when dumping, and the handle flips around to make it a trailer too! About $75 at Sears and other places, which is cheaper than most little red wagons. Made by "GorillaCarts".

(pics link to threads)

Fast, Reliable, and Cheap... Pick any two.

i put 9 individual LED's 5mm in each of the lights and it illuminates the whole backyard, the lens cap sticks out just enough for the leds to be put in from the backside/inside nicely.
