Firstly so sorry if this has been covered, I just haven't found it.
I live in the Uk and have been given a Barbie Power Wheels jeep for my little girl, however its dead and the battery doesn't work ( it has been in a garage for 2 years with no charge!) I looked at getting a replacement battery for it but to buy a power wheels battery here in the uk you can only get them from matel and they cost £79.00 plus delivery ( about $160.00 plus) Is there anyway you can change the connectors so that it runs of a normal 12 v battery, if so how do i do it and what battery would i need to replace it? Any help or advice ( diagrams !) would be very much appreciated or its going to the tip which would be such a shame as the car is spotless.
Many thanks and a very happy new year.

Hi
thank you for getting back to me, i have had a look at the bits you posted and my understanding id that providing i change my connectors in the correct way i will be able to attach any 12v battery that would fit into the car. If so this would be great as i can get a 12v scooter type battery for about £30.00 a big difference in cost from the powerwheels one!!!! |

I normally use bullet connectors for both the battery and the wiring harness on the vehicle that connects to the battery. It works great especially when you have multiple batteries and vehicles. In your situation using the plug off the old battery and reconnect to the new battery would work just as well. Like swhenrik stated, ensure the new battery has at least a 6 AH, 12 AH are the most common ones used for aftermarket batteries, just because the charge will last longer, meaning more play time. |

the connector size is usually going to be a 14-16 ga. connector, but if you are hooking to the batteries then you will need to buy female quick connects, sheilded if you can find them. usually walmart carries them in a kit. |

quick connect = bullet connectors right?
Using 14-16 ga is alright for the battery lines? I thought the battery lines were 10 ga. |

well... no. a bullet connector is a bullet and a quick is like a spade but solid. the female side of a quick connect could be called a female spade but to quell all connfusion here is a pic.
Insert Image:
the quick connects are the flat spades and the insulated females

How do you get the bullet connectors to hold up? Everytime I try and use them the crimp doesn't hold. I now have like 150 spade connectors in both gauges so I don't know why I care but I do.
Also as far as the wire gauge goes PW's are 14-16 and Pegs are 10-12. |
