| How far is Festus from KC? Looks like something you may see sitting on the side of the interstate running through east KC. |

| I'm guessing somebody put 24v or more in it. Might want to check the motors and gearboxes too. How about a moment of silence for those poor tires. All I can say is WOW!!! |

I have to say that the Roush is my favorite of yours so far! I just got into the PW scene about 4 or 5 months ago so I dont have too many parts left over to re-use on other PWs. My yard is starting to look like a junkyard. But the wife is talkin about gettin me a shed soon just to store them all! My main problem is finishing 1 project before I start another one lol. I have 3 going at the moment which drives her nuts! I went back outside and was testing parts and so far it looks like the Shaker radio is shot, the pedal switch, and 1 of the exhaust tips is pretty well shot, 2 tires, 1 hubcap (for now) I will try to paint the 3 I have and see how they turn out. I think that is all I need at the moment lmao |

What brand of paint are you "Shimmer" guys talking about? I just painted a Pepper Grey and Pepper Black (Eleanor) on a Mustang and the paint cost a fortune (I got everything else pretty cheap so I splurged on the paint). Your "shimmer" seems to be the same effect I was trying to get and I am hoping it is a lot cheaper?
Just trying to find out what brand, where you purchased and the cost per can. Also, what brand do you use for your clear coat finish?

One more question for you HotWheel80,
Its about your Radio: 1. Did you tap into the vehicles 12 volt power line or did you ad a secondary battery source just for the radio? 2. What are you doing about an antenna (or are you just using the CD player and Audio In input lines? 3. Did you just install two mid-range speakers or did you add a thumper somewhere in the back?
I am thinking about adding a factory radio on my next build and was just curious about some of the logistic about doing it. A plus for the extra battery is that I would have spare power if the primary battery drained (no pushing the car home if it ran out of juice). The down side is that because I would be running 18 volts I would be adding a lot of extra dead weight to the car (cutting speed). Just wondering what your experience has been like to this point.

I will be using a spare battery that I will probably locate under the seat. I may put a small antenna on it. and use an antenna adapter just like when you install an aftermarket cs player in a real car. I have two 5-1/4" mid range speakers for it, doubt I will add a subwoofer though. Adding a spare battery for a radio, lights really shouldn't affect the speed enough to even notice. I will definately add some pics as I go along. I actually got the ideas from defensivewound (surprise surprise) on his "Mustang2" project. This is my first Mustang and him and Turbokev do amazing jobs and I liked alot of both of their ideas so I wanted to try some of them myself. |

I am also doing a Mustang right now. On this one I am looking to add the TurboKev electrical system (18 volts, triple toggle switch charging/run, LED lights, three 6 volt batteries mounted in front). I have already painted the body and now wish I would have put some bondo on the scratches. I am already looking for another donor Mustang and on that one I will go too Phase II and steal (achme,... borrow) from the Defensive Wounds body mod's and remove the License Plate, use bondo to fill the void/smooth out the body and also include his front grill.
It is also on that car that I want to give the shimmer paint a try (I have also seen a few of that are done in Yellow/Black and they seem to have turned out really nice). I will of course add the things I have learned electrically from the current project to that car, with the possible addition of a radio. I have three Grandson's and the oldest just turned 3 so I am ahead of the game for now.
The funny thing is that the people who know me now think I am a Power Wheel expert. I just laugh and say I am in the right hand lane, just trying to keep up with traffic. You should see what the people in the passing lane are doing with their rides. --- None of them can ever seem to understand why I have so many vehicles in the garage (the wife has finally come on board which was a big plus -- she does still want me to get the number below double digits, but no longer rides me about it).

Well,..... I was at Wal-Mart last night and they had a Discounted Radio with a a DVD Player, AUX In Jack and a Remote,...... I grabbed it and some speakers and I guess am going to add the radio to the car I am working on now (smile).
So,.... I am back to one of my earlier questions. What to do about an antenna? I could for now just let them use the AUX, CD's and DVD's, but I would really like to get the readio up and running as well. I stopped at Auto Zone and they have a Universal unit for just under $60 (way to much for me). I am going to have my car guy look around today for the cheapiest used one he can find. If I can track one down for under $20 I am going to add it. Other wise the radio just won't get off the ground. I know, I know,.... where's the question (smile). What are you going to do about the void that is left because of the reduced size of a real radio? I was thinking about cutting and painting a small piece of wood that I could then mount the radio too, but then I am not sure how I am going to secure that to the car. Just wondering how you are planning on resolving that issue?

Found a Short Black rubber antenna at WalMart yesterday. Cut the hole and mounted it today. I made one mistake. I set it up so the antenna could swing/tilt from front to back. Because of the slight tilt of the body it leans out a little. I should have set it up to go left to right and I could have gotten it to be straight,.... lesson learned.
also, picked up a pair of 6x9 4-way speakers (another mistake). The speakers barely fit and it is also to deep. I should have found a much more slim profile speaker even if I would have had to give up some watts and only gotten a two way,...... another lesson learned. I am working on cutting out a spacesr from a 1 inch board (more weight and more work). I do think I have figured out what i am going to do in regards to mounting the Radio. I am going to try and wrap up several of the loose ends I have today. It would be nice to get power restored and the radio up and running today.
I promise not to dump on your thread anymore, but I just wanted to let you to know the grief you have caused me with this radio thing(laughs).
Take care,

I sold the Raptor today that I completely gutted, re-wired, cleaned, swapped motors, and painted. Hated to see it go but at least it will make some little boy extremely happ this Christmas. It's always nice to have your hard work appreciated. Anyways, I decided to work on the Stang a bit today while my daughter was takin a nap. I got the holes cut and the wiring ran for the speakers and hooked up the cd player to see how they sound which I must admit, is pretty good! I'm still thinking about building a thin enclosure for them since they are only about 8 inches behind the front tires and if she drives through any puddles, it would immediately soak them so it looks like another trip to home depot for some supplies. I will get some pics up soon for ya. |
