So I converted my daughter's LM to 24V with DCM-267 motors...after burning up too many motors, I changed it to 18V and used the HPI GT-550 motors. Holy Cheez-its is this thing fast.

So, two of my neighbors ask me to do the same to their kid's PW (one is a blue Mustang, the other a Barbi Mustang). I finish both and HOLY S#IT are they fast!!! Faster then the LM.

The Mustangs have 21T gear boxes, the LM has a 19T. So, I go on eBay tonight and pick up two new 21T gearboxes and get $10 off for using BillMeLater (I guess it's now part of PayPal).

My point...anyone that wants a FAST PW, do the 21T, 18V GT-550 conversion. It's ridiculous how fast they run! And, I get 30 minutes of run time (at WOT most of the time) compared to 10 minutes with the 24V DC-267 setup.

My cul-de-sac looks like Bristol racetrack going around the oval island with these three racing each other!

I wonder how my 12V PW Red Harley-Davidson Motorcycle @ 18V would do with HPI GT-550 motors. I believe it uses 21T gearboxes as well. I think I'm gonna have to try that out!

Hah! Well, I'm going to be the one driving it. I'll wear a full face helmet then.

Look at my signature, that is why I have GT 550's and 18v on both of our PW's! Be careful going up in # of teeth on the gearboxes, you loose torque as you go up in tooth count. Our KFX quad flies with this 550/18v combo, and that is on 19t gear box, but going up steep hills from time to time the fuse will trip, where as our F-150 (16t gear box) does not have any issue, but that is because it has more torque to handle additional weight.

Yeah my boys mustang has 18v and the hpi motors. He got to drive it this week for the first time and it's defiantly fast.

I put my Droid phone in the car with the GPS speedometer running and had her drive down the street and back...max speed was recorded at 10mph...that's double over stock. :) I verified the GPS app was accurate in my car by comparing it to the speedometer and my Escort 9500ix radar detector (it shows your speed whenever it detects radar/laser).

Needless to say, the hot ticket is 18V and HPI GT 550 motors with heat sinks.

I get a solid 6 mph in a silverado at 12 Volts with the HPI's.

Yeah honey it's safe, I read about how to do it on the internet.
