hey everyone i posted a topic called 25mph xtreme machine. well all i can say about that is that my expectations were wayy to low. lets juss say i figured out a way to make my powerwheel to go at least 40mph (depending on the load size). the best thing about this is everything electric component stays the same. my biggest problem is juss figuring out how to come to a stop .

any suggestions?

What did you do, drop it off a cliff?

Seriously, running the motors on 110v with an extension cord and diode bridge wouldn't produce that kind of speed, let alone leaving the components the same.

At those speeds, you'd need drum or even disk brakes, maybe a whole system from a wrecked Kia or Toyota Echo? (think tiny car)

Let me guess, you took all those LED lights you were trying to sell here and found a way to convert the light energy into some sort of magic propulsion that produces no harm on the gearboxes and motors? Sweet. Where can I buy it?

Scale Speed or by radar? I can imagine it doing it on a grade greater than 7% and a driver weighing about 80+ pounds and in that case I would suggest a bungie jumping cord

Lets be honest the only safe way for a PW to go 45 is if its strapped down in the back of a truck or SUV.

ok to blake711 thats a good idea but i didnt wanna stop so suddenly and i would like to walk again lmao. @drew510 no it didnt quite work out like that but if it did u'd be the first one to get one promise.
i actually got the idea from u guys and with the help of my godfather. he told me that i could get up to 55mph on it and hes been an automechanic all his life and to put his theory to the test i did alot of thinking and i calculated the problem and what he said was completely correct. right now i just have to figure out a way to build a new torque converter out of steel(or preferably a weldable metal) so i can get started on these brake neck speeds. i did relize that the load size is going to affect these speeds but on the other hand that leaves more room for modifications :) and im pretty sure i came to the right place. besides i love challenges but it will make my project progress alot faster with you guys help.

If it's electric I fail to see the need for a torque converter. Electric motors have 100% torque at zero rpm.

The purpose of torque converters are to allow internal combustion motors to spin up into their power bands before attempting to transfer power to the wheels. Electric motors have 100% of their torque available at zero RPM so there is absolutely no reason to allow them to reach a particular RPM level before transfering power to the wheels. All adding a torque converter would accomplish would be to lesson the efficiency of the electric motor.

I got it!
After the motors reach full speed (5mph) he has the automatic transmission shift into higher gears, to boost the speed.

The motors never get faster than 16K RPM, but adding a higher gear or six...

Your best bet is to simply buy a go cart and slap some other pw body on it. A plastic frame machine is not ment for the weight or speed you are loooking for.

Please don't hurt yourself or your child trying to accomplish your 55mph claim! It's pretty safe to say that anything over 10mph would be super fast for any PW.
