I completed the headlight modification on our 2-seater F-150. As promised, here are pictures. I have a 2.3ah battery to run the headlights. I have a switch (with a blue LED) installed just to the left of the steering wheel in one of the "cubbys" that are on this vehicle. On this vehicle you simply remove the one screw that holds the clear lens over the headlights, once you remove the lens, you can pull out the chrome light assembly. I then used a dremel tool to cut out the back portion of the light fitting. The bulb is a 12v 48 LED MR16 style bulb.

I placed a healthy bead of clear silicone around the inside rim of the light fitting right where I cut out the section. I set the bulb in place and let the silicone set up. When cutting the fitting, make sure you leave enough of a lip to support the bulb. You don't want the bulb to be able to fit through the hole you cut.

Here is the light fitting sitting in my vise just after I placed the bulb in the silicone. I am letting it sit to set up. Off to mow the grass now, LOL!

Here is light installed.

All lit up!

Here are some photos with the lights off.

It is simply amazing how well this works! I am so glad I did this mod! Here is a link to the bulbs I purchased: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350092832021&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Funny thing is I originally purchased 24 LED bulbs, but they shipped me these 48 LED bulbs at no extra charge! I ordered them on a Friday and they arrived on Monday, really fast shipping!

I purchased these for our KFX Quad, these are about an inch in diameter and are freakishly bright! I actually mounted them to the inside of the "pretend" light housing with double sided 3M weatherproof tape.

Timbo sweet mod man, looks great. Which light is better/brighter? The 12v 48 LED MR16 style bulb or the cheaper G4 24 3528 SMD LED White Marine Light Bulb Lamp 2W 12V you put on the KFX quad? thanks

Without a doubt the MR16's. They are much larger and have more LEDs along with the reflector. They are also quite a bit more, but they are both relatively inexpensive.

Did you order 24 or 48 LED? I originally ordered 24 LED from a company that was domestic on ebay, but they ended up shipping me 48 at no extra charge........you saw the picture, they are sweet!

Is there a connector plug that fits on to the prongs sticking out of the back of the bulb... or do you have to solder wires to those prongs?

yes there are wired adapters you can buy. Just type in "wired MR1"6 and they will show up in ebay. I will just solder them on myself. Not sure what Timbo did

Wow

I wish i would of found these led lights when before i did my daughters F-150 light mod. I just have one high output 10mm for each head light.I also put a wider angle led's for the fog lamps.I also put in turn signals next to the headlights that function when she turns the steering wheel form side to side and made several circuit boards to control the flash of the turn signal. It also has auto shut off timing on the lights so she cant leave them on. I will be ordering some of these lights for sure on the next project. Your truck looks great!

I actually used the basic "butt" splice normally used for wire. It was quick and easy and they simply slide off if needed.
