Well, I got tired of putting all our vehicles on 18V, and changing the batteries so often (we're not technically inclined to set up series of batteries, etc). Paid $550 after discounts.
So, we decided to get the Perego RZR June 2010. Headed to Toys R Us, got the last one (floor model) they had left.
Charged the battery overnight, and the next day, tried it out, and it started stopping every few minutes, on flat land, with only 1 child (38 lbs) in it.
Ordered up a new battery & the higher amp fuses, installed them and all was good on the technical end, until today. It started stopping again on the small inclines and on flat areas again. I have no idea why, with the new fuses. It has been 90+ degrees out and high humidity, so not sure if that's contributing? I hope so, because I'm about ready to return this!
The physical appearance & quality of this is pretty bad, just about every plastic piece has popped out of place, due to the people at Toys R Us and their lack of putting things together great to begin with. Headlights fell off, bottom wire cover fell off, handlebar came right out, Mp3 jack acts up, even with various sets of batteries we've tried, the crappy little plastic pieces that hold the upper part of the vehicle and the lower part together in the back near the shocks. Had to go buy some bolts to slide thru (this seems to happen to the Gator, and Buck as well, that hold the beds on, the plastic pins come out).
Loading the battery into this is such a pain, 3 screws to undo and have to remove the seat to access it, if you aren't able to pull the vehicle right up to an outlet, we don't have a garage w/ electric, so this is quite a pain to do daily.
Ok, enough complaining, the good parts!
I love the pedal on this one, just like all other power wheels, have to put the pressure on the top (unlike the 24V Gaucho that was hard for kids to push).
This does go really well, when it's actually working, has got out of a few spots other 12V vehicles haven't.
Lots of leg room for growth. There is certainly no way a kid 10 years old will fit this like Perego claims, the weight will cause it to shut off even with the higher amp fuses, we had only 80 lbs in it and it shut off on a probably 2% incline.
For $350 this would have been a steal, but for $550+ or more, it is just not adding up to it's value, and I'm hesistant to keep it knowing it's going to only continue to cause problems.
I give this vehicle a thumbs down for performance.

| Sounds like both my superpowers......if i had a RZR methinks i would do it just like i did the gauchos......YANK THAT DANG BOARD OUT AND THROW IT AS FAR AS YOU CAN!!!!......unbelivable differance with a scooter controller.....Im thinking of getting the 800 twin polaris and doing that to it as it seams to be the largest ride.....will be hard to buy a new one and start cuttin wire but it's got to suit your needs or what good is it? |

We've had this 3 months, and just about every cosmetic piece on it has fallen apart, and I don't let my kids abuse it, it's normal wear. The entire rollbar has ripped off at every anchor point, the side bars ripped off, so the kids can fall out easily if they turn too quick (ours didn't come with seat belts, was never sent a replacement by Toys R Us as promised). We had to remove the rollbar, as there was no way to reattach it, as there was nowhere to re-screw the pieces back onto.
The fuses we were sent replacements for already continue to shut off in grass that is higher than like 1"...my 40lb 5 year old can only ride it on concrete or on completely flattened grass where he has ridden over & over, if he rides in our field, it just doesn't go, and certainly not with 2 kids in it, who still only weight 80lbs combined, and are both 5 years old, so FORGET older kids riding this! And this is all flat land we ride on now, no hills, since it stops & rolls backwards.
If I could return this at this point, I would, total waste of $550 at this point. |

Well 4 months into it and our 1st rear tire has started to split... :(
We barely ride on concrete, mostly in grass, today while on concrete, I noticed it, of course I just got off the phone with Perego yesterday, and this happens today, guess I'll have to call back again. |
