Inspired by Starkiller's hurricane http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6413 and the upcoming toy story 3 movie, an old sunfaded Barbie dune has transformed into this...

Haven't done the polishing and waxing work yet and it already requires some major touch-up after my 33 month young son drove it into a tree :( Oh well, at least I could cover it up with some decals.

Spray painting is definitely not for everyone. I can say without a doubt, it takes patience and lots of skill... plus a good amount of ventilation; all three factors that I seem to misplace

Nice! It's a very rounded car too so it goes well with the cartoon theme.

I'm not sure I've figured out the painting yet but I'm definitely picking up tips in this site.

That looks great with the two tone! The thing that I've learned with paint is more time you spend on prep and slower you go, the better it'll turn out...

That's given me another idea of how to make my kids new beetle the unpink :-D

What paint did you use? That's a cool green

The green is a rustoleum fluorescent bright neon color No: 1932830.

I started using Krylon fusion green as my base just to cover up the faded pink. Then used the neon green to get the lighter and brighter color. It ended up darker than what I was going for but it was good enough. Didn't find a lighter green at walmart that comes close to a Buzz lightyear toy.

The Rustoleum finish was matte, so I did a couple of layers of krylon fusion clear for a gloss finish. The shine still is lacking so I may add a couple more coats of clear layers and see if I can get a wetter look.

Yes it looks good witht the 2 tone

Tip on using the flourescent green, prime it with white, then spary the flourescent :) and a clear topcoat will prevent it from fading off

And I noticed, the tire tread pattern look similar to my H2's

Aha! Now I know why I can't order those dune beetle tires [H0150-2459]. I guess FP sold the mold to your H2 supplier.

What it looked like before is a sunfaded version of the original

I like it. Good use of the stock purple parts.

I skipped on painting the wheels, tires, seat and dash. I also left the inside and underside of the car blue since they could withstand the wear and tear better than a fusion painted surface.
