I started piecing together vehicles from my HUGE haul, and one of my buddies decided he wanted one for his 3 year-old grand-daughter "Kyleigh" (Yes I am old. But in my defense, he had his first kid at age 17 , and he is older than me. ). When his son heard about this, he decided Kyleigh needed one for home too. Her favorite color is Pink, which works out good because I have a few Pink Jeeps.
I had to piece a few together to make complete vehicles. Here are the donors...

Here they are (mostly) pieced together and painted...

Nothing too special so far. Repainted a pink body with Fusion "Fairytale Pink", and a white body with Fusion "Gloss White". After they were painted, I decided to swap windshields, for two reasons; To make them match each other better, and because the those windshields are very hard to get complete coverage on, so they don't exactly match the bodies.
Except for the White tub, both are Barbie "Cruisin Tunes" Jeeps (uni-body, 19T/550, 11" wheels)(PDF). I'm working on the 'radios' right now, but no luck so far . Both have like-new drive-trains with lock-out screws in place, and like-new purple tires. Each will be getting three Gruber 6V/12AH batteries with relays connected to a switch for "Charge" and "Run" modes, and charging lugs. Both will get two "Oznium pre-wired superflux 4-chip 12V LEDs" for head-lights. And at least one (possibly both) will be getting a remote kill...

Thanks! I have the brown Wrangler, a red Wrangler, and an Adventure Team (minus the Adventure Team accessories), that I'm getting ready to sell, and a red Harley plus (hopefully) Ricam's pink Harley, so I'll have some matching sets for parent's with multiple kids (Ricam's suggestion).

Title cracks me up... Google "Barbie Twins" if you don't already know.
I thought that name rang a bell...

Of course, I just read the articles.

Nice saves there.. shows you can take the nastiest looking Jeep and make it good again~
I'm interested to see how this relay system works out~
Me too Kev! I incorporated half of your method with Divinar's relay method, so I hope it all works out. Both buyers are getting Schumacher chargers, so I'll probably try to put the charging posts in an out-of-the-way place and let them connect the ring terminals that come with the chargers to them. I'm also toying with the idea of using a door pin switch (in place of the toggle switch) under the seat so it will switch to charge mode and 'activate' the charge posts, (and 'deactivate' "Run" mode), when the seat is lifted.
These bodies are still scratched and pitted, so they don't look quite as good up close, but a quick paint job did improve them a lot. |
