So I just purchased a super6 f150 from eBay. I am planning on giving it a SVT / Super Snake look. Also going to bump the battery power and the motors. Will give it a revised gearbox once the concept from my mustang is finished. Hopefully this will be less involved than the mustang mods.

got the truck, unwrapped the plastic and started changing stuff.
painted the rims chrome, steering wheel black, and the pedal aluminum. I am thinking about starting to rewire once I get home, that or look into revising the stickers.

first thing i saw that I am not happy about is the cheesy 2 buttons for forward/reverse. It kills me that there isnt a shifter. I will probably look at changing that.
Also still torn between keeping the 3b boxes or going to a #7

That's a pretty good looking truck! I'll be interested to see some pics of your progress on this one.

I think if you were to put the super 6 motors in a #7, say 19T, on 12v you'd be happy. I've never done such a thing, but I would think with a pinion change, it would work well. Only other issue would be clearance for the GB.

Post more pics!!!

I'm actually thinking of selling the motors, gearboxes, and wiring as a complete unit. I have a set of traxxas motors I could install with the 19t boxes.

Ok, will get pics up later today. I got started at like 9pm and put in about 3 hrs. The creative juices were flowing and I don't have any major body mods like on the mustang to do. Got the #7 gb installed, prototype front lip, bed cover, lip spoiler, and got the battery location planned. This should be a sick little truck.

Painted the lug nuts black, the center section with the shifter silver, the bed cover silver, and the bottom tub black. I hope to get the upper portions if the body painted black tonight.

Ordered some heatsinks w/ fans and some additional fans.
Also got a surplus of spare parts from eBay to tinker on and test ideas with.

I like that little motor under the hood... Where'd you get it? Nice work on the gearbox swap too - looks stock to me! Those 19T's ought to move that little truck along nicely.

2 comments.. first..I've seen tons of those little silver trucks and I've never seen a motor with them..Very cool~

Second.. Make sure your little driver who hasn't even hit 30 pounds yet is experienced
enough at steering and more importantly, stopping, to handle the quickness this is going to have.

Helmets became a requirement for riding at our house when I bumped everything up to
18 volts, and I didn't do that till the kids demonstrated some decent driving skills..

One of these modded rides at 18 volts in to the side of the garage at full speed would hurt.

Not tellin' you how to be a parent.. just saying be cautious 'cause you will be
surprised how fast these things go when they are souped up

Thanks,
Kev

Helmet will be required. Also considering a harness sincebthese have nothing. Currently he flies around in high gear on his gaucho rockin. I using the wiring schemefrom your stangs in the truck so I can restrict him down. I appreciate the warning, we never want to do anything that's gonna hurt a kid.

Painted and reassembled. Will post up some pics later on. Pretty much just need the rest of my electrical parts to be able to finish. The boy is driving me crazy to drive the truck so I for now I am going to install the original gbs and then come back and swap them out for some with bearings.

Passenger side motor will now fit. I am now working on the cooling ducts for that side. Looks like each side will be different but very effective when done. Pretty much just takes me a long time to accomplish things because appearance is of the utmost importance.

Wow man, that thing is going to be sweet. Are you going to try to make the hood look like the super snakes?

Keep up the good work... once you get it running you should make a video of it in a race smoking a Chevy lol.

I have some spare hoods now so I may try. I am considering swapping out for some street only tires also. This thing is basically an 18v mustang with a small truck body (and a few performance mods).

Good job man I had fun with this truck too.... I think yours came out cleaner. plus my tonuo cover was plexy and got broken and re melterd and couldnt hide bubble, wires every where.... I will be re addressing it though.... I think later I may make it to a Monster truck ... seems bigger tires with wider wheel base and lift on these truck could be AWESOME.... this was my 2nd mod. it was made to look like his dads truck, a Ranger

and heres a couple other pics....

the back was on with a hinge...the tail pipes circulated air so motors never over heat, the air flo system also touched a peice of plastic that sounded like a truck idle... lots of switches on dash, but a mess of wires under hood. I wish I would have taken my time but I was soooo excited. I didn't clean up my modding till the indy bike.lol. anyway, not thread jacking just excited to see another TN and f150 project, LOOKS SWEET , are you modding the gearboxes or voltage and oh I like the Goal image too. I looked at your thead while searching, like the truck.

I am putting in 18v, ball bearing 21t gearboxes, and possibly a wheel and axle upgrade.

Never heard of ball-bearing 21Ts. Where do you get them?

Hand made. I should be able to finish the first box this week or next. Might even bump it to a 22t pinion.

Thought I was gonna be able to finish wiring, realized that I needed a fuse right after EACH battery.....grrrrrr,but whatever it takes to be safe. Figured out how I want to hide the batteries and see that the hood is doable, but gonna take some work to get the look just right. Hello Bondo.

i hate wiring. redoing all the harnesses and adding the 18v crap is worse than all the wiring work I did on my Kawi Teryx ( and i did ALOT of wiring), almost done, little more to go. worked on the NOS bottles and a mock up of the hood. like stated earlier, gonna be some bondo and grinding involved.

I wish I lived closer - I'd happily trade you wiring for some of the miracles you're working in plastic!

The biggest problem with the wiring was how tired I was when trying it.

Wow that hood is looking good. Since you are looking for more of a street tire, why not try some of the stang or maybe escalade wheels? I dont know how much of a size difference there is though... so that may or may not work. Looking good though, that thing is gonna be sweet!

I actually do have a bead on some mustang tires. I like the esclade tires, but afraid they would require way too much cutting. I will try to get pics up later of the hood. I got it cut up and epoxied on, got some bondo slapped on.

progress on hood.

will get this smoothed out and reworked this week. Got some mustang wheels on the way, so will have to cut the body a little and rework the rear axle.

Got a set of 21t gearboxes in today. I am gonna clean them and drop them in the truck so it's drivable while I finish the bearings boxes. Should also have wheels on the way. As a result, I will have to revamp the axles. Gonna go with a true svt truck setup, basically a truck body on a mustang setup. So we have 18v power, 21t boxes, mustang wheels, all with a super 6 f150 body.

That will be an (un)pleasant surprise for the other kids at the playground.

Sanded the first layer of bondo on the hood and should and final amount tomorrow. Swapping out for stang rims and tires and considering some big suspension changes. I think the wheels will get a nice bearing upgrade and there is going to be a serious new rear axle. This stupid thing keeps getting more involved.

Hood is looking good. I like the direction this is going nice work so far.

I think you should cutout the rib features in the front grill and do a full mesh like the insperation picture you posted. Maybe if you get creative enough you could do the same at the bottom. That would look sweet.

thanks.
i defiantly am doing an upper and lower grill, just cant seem to find the right looking mesh at Lowes or Home Depot

after thinking about it, will prolly have to redo the steering shaft to make it work with the "suspension" modifications i am doing.

At least you are doing all your mods now, instead of waiting weeks or so in between... it would kind of suck to have it all finished and be like... you know what, I need to do . . .

I think it will look awesome after the wheel/tire upgrade... and before you install the 21t's... you should get some of the Titan motors and of course some 21t pinions for them . Then that thing would rule the streets.
