Well i figured I would get my build thread started. I am a new member here, just recently picked up a Mustang for me and my 3yr old to work on. He already has a Gaucho rockin jeep from the grand parents, but we dont want to mod it since it was the last Christmas present from my dad before he passed. So anyways, he loves to work on stuff so a project was born.

I dont have any pics since i am waiting on it to be delivered. I already have 3 6v bats on the way, upgraded motors, heat sinks, and misc parts. I have a ton of ideas i want to try and do. I am pretty good with modifications to stuff, so other than a little electrical questions, I should be good to go.

I admittedly am going to be one of those guys who thinks they can do something with the gearbox. In fact, if i cant, i will be forced to hang my head in shame.

I have a concept of what i want to do, just need to source out parts and sell some that i dont want. I can tell you already that the radio will be coming out ASAP. the jeep has a radio, the car will not. May have spare hub caps and possibly tires depending on how research goes. Stock battery and motors will be going. most likely the stock axles also. GT logos coming off, grill coming off. I will have to just wait and see what parts come off and can be sold.

Stay tuned for more.

PS. please dont be one of those people that tells me I CAN'T do something. Just because you can't or haven't seen it done, doesn't mean I won't figure out a way.

I too am new at this, but its easy to become extremely focused on a project. you said you were looking for a particular engine. don't know if you found it yet, but ther is a similar one on Ebay, I believe its from an eliminator? Looked cool, but not really for my project. if you're looking to unload some of those parts, I might be interested. let me know.

Thanks for the heads up on the motor, that may work. This is really more of a filler project until I can get my toy home and into the garage.

well thanks to a tip from another member, worked out a deal for a fake motor. A little custom fitting, painting and stickers and this pony will be packing some serious motor.

Grrrrr.... still waiting on car and have many more ideas. After studying some pics, I am considering a 1" drop to sit the body just above the tires.

Don't have it yet, but made a deal for one off eBay. I plan on painting it, applying new stickers, and creating a supercharger setup.
I've got real big ideas, just hope I can make them look good.

Got the car today. Me and the little boy got it mostly tore apart. I see several things I wanted to do that won't be possible and a few things I didn't think of that can be done. Will be listing up parts that will not be used in the next few days.

got the headlights figured out, so need to order leds.
need to go grab some measurements so i can get bearings and other gb mod parts on the way.

this is pretty addicting, expecially since my Teryx is down at inlaws house.

Decided to run 22t pinions in the mustang. It drops the ratio to like 108:1, so nothing too extreme.

Don't know yet, this is a slow moving project for me due to the ammount of physical changes I am making. I may swap the fans over to the f150 project since it should be done much sooner.

Just ordered switches for the charging system for the stang and the f150. Also started work on the modified gearboxes. Everything but the final gear is very easy to adjust. Did some shifter work but nothing really worthy of pics right now.

So this project should start back soon since the truck is getting close. Gotta ask the question, should I cut out the front liscense plate? I planned to originally, but now for time sake am considering not doing it. Opinions?

I did and I think it's the best thing I've done on this Mustang! I hate that thing!

'07-'09

2010 (not finished)

Shaving it cleans up the front end and leaves the option of adding a nice plate if you wanted, like a bicycle license plate. Another good thing is that it makes it easier to put a bottom grill and you could put fog lights behind that. Just looks more intimidating without it IMHO.

That modified front sure looks cool in defensivewound's project. If you have the skills to do it, and the time, I agree it looks better.

In my case I would be worried I would do it wrong and it would just fall off the first time he smacked something.

I'm a little nervous about him hitting something too but it's pretty strong and it's a risk I was willing to take to get the right look!

After looking at how much time I am spending on the small details, it would be lame for me not to remove the plate. Blah, why didn't I just let the kid ride and not modify this thing???????
