I sold the jeep last friday and I wanted to fix the slag before the buyer pick it up. So as I don't have special tools to make custom metalic pieces, this is what I did with some things I bought at Home Depot (I didn't spent more than $15)

I used a metalic perforated piece and I cut 2x 3holes pieces and 4x 2holes pieces. For the three holes pieces I made a hole bigger for the axel using the drill

53.32 KB

I used 2x 2holes pieces as washers

53.29 KB

53.95 KB

68.05 KB

Here is the most important step: the holes to put the screws to fit the upper metalic pieces (three holes), have to be made as closer as possible to the outside in order to maintain the axels in a good (to inside) position to reduce the slag.

54.43 KB

Two wire rope clips to maintain this metallic piece in place:

42.86 KB

Two more two holes pieces as washers for the clips:

53.43 KB

48.69 KB

Before:

After:

82.15 KB

Hope this help. Can be taken as sticky?

I admit, at 1st I was like what? but I applies it to my actual jeep and saw it needed a spacer to tighten up areas in there and then I came back to the pics and saw that was what you did and for stability you braced both sides up. Great idea. I want to unit to look more stock so I really didn't want to weld. but I would it I thought it would work and keep its structural integrity.
