| Okay, I read the posts about the Escalade not getting enough traction. Okay, it's true. I already purchased one though. Problem is it is horrible on my grass. I purchased it from someone whose children rode it on cement so the traction is really bad. Now what should I do to make it have better traction on my grass? By reading the posts I can't put BMX bike tires on them, the'll just make them go slower and if I were to modify the tires someway I would destroy the gears. Any suggestions? |

Take a look at the treads Taz11 did on his Jeep. It's true that any traction aid is going to be putting more strain on the gearboxes, but if you're just looking for more traction right now, I don't think it's going to be too detrimental. One easy mod you could do is to put a larger resistor on the brake wire (or if there isn't one, to add one) this will reduce the abrupt autobraking, and reduce the gearbox strain by a good margin.
If you start modding for more speed, then you'll probably need to start working on ways to help with the strain even more, such as a scooter controller or Fortis' spring return setup. |

My backyard is 100% grass with a slight slope in one area, so I put Mt. Bike tire tread on my Escalade wheels. It works great and handles the grass fine. If my kids run into something and keep the power on, the wheels do still slip a bit and if the grass is wet there is a little wheels spin too. Without the Mt. bike tires the Escalade was pretty worthless in the grass if it was anything other than bone dry and mowed really short. Getting your kid unstuck gets old real fast. Adding the Mt. bike tires was totally worth it to me.
On the street, the Escalade is 100x quieter now. Those wide plastic tires are crazy loud. |

| @ Mr. Lynch, I read on here if you put those BMX tires on them for grass then it actually makes your car go slower. I don't know. and @ gseric69, I have no idea how to put a resistor on the car although I would love to. Any ideas? |

I wouldn't say it is slower when you consider with BMX tires it goes, without it gets stuck! If it is slower overall, it isn't by much. If stock is 5mph, then bmx tires maybe drop it to 4.5mph. It turns way better and can make it up the slight incline in my yard without getting stuck though. Both my super6 Quad and Jeep are running 12v and are much faster than the Escalade, but they do get stuck alot since they have the stock plastic tires.

Take a look at the diagram on the left here. This is how the wiring in your Escalade is set up. It shows a wire coming off the throttle switch with a resistor on it. This isn't on every car, so if yours doesn't have one, then adding on will help soften the braking. The wire it's on is typically orange.
I beleive the stock size typically used is 5 Watt .22 Ohm, but you can go up to a 5 Watt .47 or .51 Ohm resistor to soften it even more.

| Gseric69..Where would could I find one of these resistor? My daughters caddy has a horrible skid when she lets her foot up, Also my drive way is on a bit of a incline, if I rewire her ride to a larger gauge wire would it help and get a bit more power? Thank you! |
