I know you're probably thinking why don't this guy finish a project before he starts another. Well i'm waiting on parts and stuff for my other ones and I just feel like starting a new one. I have other project planned but this one popped in my head a couple days ago when my son had out his Monster Trucks. So I plan on combining the back of a Kidstrax Firetruck and the front of a Dodge Lil Ram, would be nice if there was a full size Ram but this is what I got and plan to make it work. I plan on shrinking the back of the firetruck to scale it more down to size of the Ram. I dont know how well this is gonna work out but it should be fun and aggravating to try.

The inspiration

Holey faded firetruck!!!! What are you planning on using for wheels? This should be one of a kind.

I'm starting WIP #3 tonight also.....why sit and wait for parts when you can further clutter the shop?

Drive it like you stole it!........out of somebody's garbage!

If you scale down the body enough, that should work.

So I got it tore all the way down now, man was it full off dirt. So I plan on cutting 6" out of the back to narrow the width, im not sure yet if the height is gonna be ok.

Ok so I got the rear cut down still have to put back together. Now it seems I have a dilemma if I put it like the 1st pic the front wheel well will be higher than the back and if I do it like the 2nd pic then I thnk the steering wheel will be too low and it still wont look right.

My vote is for the 2nd pic...just have to reinvent your steering shaft angle.

Went to HF to look at plastic welders but they were out of my price range but I found this iron and it ended up workin good. The plastic rods that came with it were no good at least not for this plastic really desined for bumpers and stuff. I just ended up using scrap plactic from where I cut the firetruck. I welded pieces on to the underside and on the top side I just drug it over the crack to smooth it out some what will stil have to sand it down.

I am sure you have already thought about it. Can you move the part where the gearboxes and axle go higher.

40.42 KB

Oh yeah I cant wait til you put the The nice shiny Chrome wheels with the Monster Traction Tires on it!

I dont think I will need to I think I will look fine when I get the trim piece back on it. And I believe its just gonna get the old school Bigfoot wheels with white rims.

Well this project is going slow but surely between the cold weather the holidays and other I just havent had much time for it.

Got some bondo and sanding done still got some more to do.

Heres an idea of how it will look with the wheels on it. I dremeled out the front steering plastic swivels so I could put some L rods off of a ninja in them.

You made that a really nice fit! I was having a hard time visualizing it, but it is coming together nicely. The fender arches look about the same height, and the wheels fill the rear wells nicely, but aren't too big for the front wells either.

Very nice work!

Started work on a seat, took this from a Firerock Jeep.

It was about 3" too long so I had to shorten it up.

Then I had to notch out some groves to slide over the back pieces.

Was able to get some painting one today on a couple of pieces.

I used the newly popular method for chrome ive seen on here, using the Valspar plastic black and before its dry hitting it with Valspar chrome.

Those pictures are doing a nice job of showing that you're doing great work!

The chrome looks great too, especially if that was your first attempt! It took me a few tries to get mine looking good.
