Picked this up today for $45 from CL. Needs a battery( go figure) and is in decent shape; treads are good and the lockout screw is still in place

Even if by chance there is something wrong with the M/GB's I have a set layin around! And I already ordered the upgraded hood from Hobbymasters

And since I just airbrushed this on Christmas eve...

I figured they would be a perfect match!!! OOOHHHHHH, I can't wait to do this one

Got a little done today. This project has jumped to the front of the line cuz I'm excited to do the paint... sorry Escalade!

First I want to thank RANGERDOC for his idea for grill trim on his Bullitt Clone Project. I've had this mesh screen thing layin around and wanted to use it for a grill but did not know what to use for trim to give it a finished look (not pictured but if you've seen his then you get the point

). Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!!

Center console concept... bear with me on this one

Also got some bondo work done. Besides the seat backs, I also filled some bad scratches on the front clip and I am working on filling the fender GT emblem.

I'm glad you guys like the console idea. The cardboard is just to get the right shapes and size. The final product will be made out of plexi glass and it will match the interior; will pretty much look stock. You won't even know its plexi glass though. I'm hoping to get alot done this week.

I forgot to mention something about the grill trim. The door ding stuff I used isn't long enough to go all around so you have to cut a second piece to make it all away around. The trim also blocked direct access to the screw holes on the very end. If it's not too late for you, you might want to look at the self adhesive trim vs the slip on stuff. The self adhesive comes in longer strips. I'll post a picture of what I ended up with tomorrow. I wasn't able to hide the screws as well as I wanted because of overlap with the trim.

Yes, that is how I attached the grill. Though I suppose it could be glued directly to the plastic as well.

Thank you very much. It's done on a piece of black foam board. It was just a practice piece cuz I have never tried a flaming skull (I just learned how to do the flames) but it ended up lookin good! Big ups to the 425!!!

I've had few exchanges of words with a particular individual known as the "license plate" and today the feud escalated and I am sorry to inform MPW that the "license plate" is now DEAD!

After a lil clean up...

And no, I do not regret my actions. It was actually quite liberating!

Good idea on the lower grill. I debated that as well but decided to just go with the original stickers. It looks more original without the plate as well.

I like the way it looks, but I'd be worried that the bondo is gonna be the center of the first hit...

It looks really good. How is the adhesion of the filler to the plastic holding? A lot of stuff I've tried, Bondo, various epoxy's, etc. don't seem to want to stick to plastic too well.

I just used fiberglass to fill in the holes on my trunk (suggested by someone else) and it worked great. Used bondo to smooth things out with no problems.

I thought about that too which is why the backing is on there; it's extremely tough. Due to the way that I did it, the layer of bondo is really thin (about half the thickness of the original plastic), it's mostly on there to finish the contour correctly and smooth things out.

I've never had any problems with the bondo. I used it on the Superman Mustang to fill the GT emblem almost three years ago and it's still as good as the day I did it; no cracking or seperation.

One of these days i will take some photos and do a post for you guys to do custom body work that will never crack 500% stronger then bondo and next to no sanding needed... It is a "trick" i use to do fiberglass boxes and to mold in body kits. Hard to explain with out photos but i will make an effort.

Lets say you wanna fill in the holes in the trunk lid from the spoiler like you spoke about earlier.....
Start by placing masking tape over the holes ON THE SIDE YOU WANT PERFECT.
Lay out the amound of bondo you think you will need to do the job. DO NOT PUT THE HARDENER IN YET.
In a mixing cup put about the same amount of fiberglass resin in.
Now add the hardener into the bondo and mix fully.
Now add the hardener to the resin and mix as well.
Put the mixed bondo into the mixing cup with the mixed resin and mix the two together.
You can now apply the mixture to the back side of your body work area. I recomend using a paint brush to do this.
Lay the item flat. The mixture will work as a self leveling compound.
Give it enought time to dry and harden. Should be same amount of time as normal. Please remember the more hardener used the faster it will dry.
Peel your tape off.....

PERFECT AND DONE. Sandable like bondo, hard like fiberglass, as easy as laytex paint... HAVE FUN! Let me know if you have questions.

Adding side vents made of plexi glass. These will be permanent and painted the same color as the car. Still needs a lil tweakin but it will pretty much look like this:

I also might add some small mesh or some "ribs" inside the vents. Should I leave it rounded at the bottom or square it off? What do you guys think?? Any suggestions?

After some time off I decided to get back to work. I finished the center console mock up...

Also made a door panel that will be wrapped in black vinyl. Started with blue tape to get a template then cut it out.

...and made a panel for the radio slot.

Thanks! This is what I used:

A rotary tool with a little saw blade bit and a sanding bit and a file with two flat and two rounded surfaces ( i used the rounded) and a little sand paper.

I traced the pattern onto the panel and then cut ALMOST up to the line then used the rough rounded file to get it closer and then the fine rounded file to file it right up to the pattern line.

If you notice the cut out piece in the pic there is a flat spot; that's where I couldn't quite fit the rotary tool in to cut along the line so I cut straight across and used the sanding bit to ease it close to the line then used the file. A little sandpaper finished it off. It only took about 30 minutes total for both holes.

I was going to but I scuffed the top side on accident plus if I paint the top it will match better and the airbrushed flames will lay and look better.

Almost done with the center console. Got the leather wrapped and the face painted. I also added the switches with the LED ring and a neon strip down the sides of the face.
