well the tires seem to be in good shape, everything else looks to be quite sun faded. Still has a chance with a good scrub and some paint. To check the motors and gear boxes test them with a regular 12V battery

If it was me and I was just looking to check to see if the moters and gearboxes were any good I would take the back tires off and test them right to a car battery. But if I was planning on starting a project out of this I would buy a 12V 12ah battery from someone such as gurber. It all depends on what you want to do

crap forgot to add that every Silverado I took apart the gearboxes were soldered to the harness. You could always test useing some spare wire to a battery to keep from cutting the wire harness, or you could cut to test and reconnect after. Doing it this way though does not ensure that your switchs are any good though

Did it come with a bad battery by chance? Gseric69,has a great thread about removing the harness connector from the bad battery. You could then make a tester cable with a Jumper Cable set.Just snip off one side and connect the white wire to a 30 amp fuse then connect that to the red wire of the jumper and black to black. This will allow you to test everything at once.
If you wanted to just test the motors and gear boxes.Place the rear of the silverado on a block so the rear wheels are off the ground and then get some tiny alligator clips and attach seperate wires from after the 30amp fuse and the black wire. Then simply hook it up to the wifes car battery in case you did something wrong. You will still be able to get to work.
Let me know if you need any parts. I have a complete harness, two good switches, two good motors and one good gearbox and some other parts I won't need.
