We just bought a 1969 Beetle for $200. It's in decent shape but we need bumpers. Got any ideas?

ive got some hook ups in st louis still and can see about tracking some down for you if you'd like..craigslist has been the best thing i've used for finding parts for mine

i have the front bumper for mine(same style as rear) and im ditching both of them for a blade style..i would think that shipping would be a nightmare for those though

ill yell at some people out your way and see what i can dig up

Thanks. Just for the heck of it, could you check shipping rates for the bumpers? Or give me the weight and measurements? Maybe greyhound or something? Also in need of brackets... here is the pic.....

car is in storage until tax money comes back(at someones house about 30 min away from where I live) ill see if i can't find the weight/dimensions someplace

other places that are really good to check for local stuff besides cl is samba or vortex

http://thesamba.com
http://vwvortex.com

samba is more aircooled and vwvortex has ALOT of keyboard commando's depending which forum you end up clicking into but both have good local forums for parts and junk..All of my family/old friends are still in stl just sent texts out trying to locate stuff

:ninja edit:
love your car! two tone=awesomeness Ive got plans for paint on mine but thats classified

Thanks. It's just a rattle can job right now. I plan on painting it a different color, just haven't figured out which one. The possiblities are endless.

Mama, since your in MO, you might try B&C Auto in Freeburg, MO. It's about 20 minutes from me and they have a HUGE yard of Bugs. I don't know if you are looking for new or used bumpers, but Mike McCurdy at B&C could hook you up. I've been going there for years. Bought a '71 Squareback, a '69 Ghia and a '66 from him over the years. In fact, maybe you and I could do a bit of bartering for a Gaucho, if you end up getting some. :) You can PM me, if interested.

One of these days, I need to get my '56 Oval with Semaphores and sider-ragtop sunroof back out and get to working on her. It's setting on a '74 pan with a 1600 DP.

***EDIT***

If you want to give them a call, PM me and I'll give you their phone number.

Greg

I bought a 74 Super Beetle for $25 in 1986 and it lasted me 2 years with zero work.. it was COLD in the winter, but it never let me down even once.

The only other VW I've owned was a 72 Bus.. not a camper, it was blue and white and had no rear seats so we threw a few bean bag chairs back there.. loved that one too.

Now that I'm married with small kids, my wife and I have been talking about trying to find a Vanagon camper to take the kids camping with.. nice ones are just too darn much money though~

Thanks,
Kev

Yep, it runs great! Just looks rough. Someone tried to paint it like a herbie and gave up. The hood has the racing stripes on it but its got a good size dent in it.

Oh yeah, Peg did make the Magica in white. I have seen a few of them over the years but they are few and far between. Wish I knew where to get one. Sold my yellow one over the summer for $300+ and the lady drove to Missouri from New Mexico to get it.
