This is the first PW i got from the trash over 5 years ago. It has just been sitting in the garage. It needs a new wiring harness, foot plunger switch, gearboxes, motors and plenty other things i'm sure i will come across. I'm thinking about going with bigger wider tires in the rear similar to the ones on the Suzuki quad. I'm trying to find a good parts PW in the trash or on CL with 2 gearboxes and good motors to keep cost down. It was one wheel drive stock so i will upgrade it to two wheel drive.

I don't know what happened to the bottom of the plastic motor block but there are a bunch of holes drilled in the bottom. I will fill them all in.

My son decided he wants it to be a Grabber Green and Black paint scheme with a chrome motor. Similar to this...

This one is going to take some time to get together. This will be a nice fall project.

Well i got a set of 19T Gearboxes today with motors. The one motor case is a little rusty but no big issue with the windings inside. I have been needing a spare set of gearboxes to start this project. I put the 19t on the 3wheeler just for laughs and they fit but the torque makes me nervous.

Now what i can do is take the 3B Gearboxes with the Super6's off of the 12V Suzuki Quad and use them for this project. Then i will take the 19T 12V Setup and put that on the Suzuki Quad and go for 18V with the quad and add heatsinks and fans to them. Now the only other question is what vehicle should i put the 21T's on that are from the Harley? Replace them with the Jeeps and put the Jeep at 21T 18V too? Any ideas..?

Thought before i moved along any further in this project i would post the pictures of my son helping my take the 3Wheeler apart.

Tonight i started sanding down the body. I have the smooth out a fews areas then go back over it with 1200. Also got around the scuffing up a few of the plastic body pieces. Will be in Delaware this weekend so won't get back to this until Sunday.

Just bench tested the old foot pedal switch and it was a no go. Opened it up and all the contacts are rusted. Add a switch to the list...

Is it a rocker style or plunger style switch? I have an extra plunger, but the rockers I have are pretty old and worn looking.

I was the old style white rocker switch. Would a plunger work with that pedal setup? If you had a white rocker that still works I'd by interested.

Yea I've got one, it's the small rocker with the three angled terminals, just to be sure.
I'll just throw it in with the hex bushings. Call it $2.50 to ship it all.

The plunger would work too, you'd just have to change out the angled terminal connector from the rocker, and cut out a larger hole for it.

Since it is so nice outside I'm going to finish up sanding the pieces to the 3Wheeler and start painting. I could not find a decent grabber green in a can local so i went with another green that is closer to a John Deere Green. Sanding is killing me. I found 4 colors. Yellow,White,Blue then the original red. I will have a bunch of photos later. I am still deciding if i want to paint the back fenders black..Let them dry. Then tear some painters tape and place it over the black then shoot the green over the top making tear marks on the rear fenders...That should look cool just more time consuming.

yea i ditched the rear fender idea. I'm going to spray the entire body green. Then lay teared tape on the gas tank and put black over the tank. It will be easier and might hold up longer. I have 3 light coats on the front piece. I will be painting all day

You can also check you area for sign shops. Stop in and give them a few bucks for all the "unuseable" vinyl scraps. I do alot of little details that way. They usually toss the ends of the rolls.

Wow, thats green alright. That should be wild in the sun. Looks like you got pretty close to the Mustang color.

That particular miscalculation happened at Flemington. I can't even blame anyone.... I did that all by myself.....the hood going down the track like a frisbee was a nice touch.

Hey man as long as you can walk around today i guess it ended up good.

Yea i like the color. It looked much different this morning than last night while the paint was still setting up, Those pictures are from last night. It's cool this morning with not much sun so i might wait to paint until the afternoon.

I finished painting the 3Wheeler today. Either it was the weather or the paint but after 2 days it was still setting up. Took longer than usual. I tried taping off the tank to paint it black but it pulled paint off. I touched it up then a friend gave me the idea to use clear cling wrap. It made a nice edge and and didn't pull any paint off.

Here are some pics...Hope to have it back together by Friday. I have to wire it still and and clean the #3 gearboxes i have.

Finished up the wiring harness tonight. I made it custom again eliminating the F/R Switch. With the Quad and the 3Wheeler i find no need for reverse where we live. I built them for full speed in one direction. Plus the Super6 Motors on 12V hold up better when they are not ran in reverse for any length of time.

Waiting on a switch and some wheel bushing and will finish this one up. And have the boy give it a test drive.

Cool. I will look for them tomorrow. Thanks again. I really needed those parts to get this done. I have to make a run out to ACE in the morning and stock up on an assortment of push nuts again, The 3Wheeler had some smaller push nuts i haven't ran into yet.

These are the gearboxes i pulled off the Lambo. I took them apart and checked all the teeth on each gear and no issues, greased them back up and cleaned them up. I thought about using 16T gearboxes but the rear axle was not long enough. Put a pair of Super6 Volt motors on them. Should move good 2WD with 12V. It's much lighter than the quad.

I've been out in the garage burning the midnight oil and made the wiring harness. This might actually get a test run this weekend.

I decided to use the wheel bushings from the Harley for now since i don't have the new tires for it yet. I finished most of the assembly this morning. Just have to hook up the harness.

I have a pair of white PW Badges from the Lambo that i am considering painting green and putting on each side of the tank.

Looks like we are going to need a super 6 class at the PW races. That's the same gear/motor combo I have in the Lil jeeps. I think your wheels might be bigger though (faster).

Yea We can do Super6 on 6Volts or 12Volts. Doesn't matter. I just used a rocker switch to test it and its going to outrun the quad for sure. I have to get my son use to leaning his weight on a turn so it doesn't roll. Adding the second gearbox makes the rear wider so i hope that helps too.

They are at the grandparents and will be back later tonight. So i will get some video up soon.

I took apart the foot throttle switch from the Lambo and the springs were intact. So i cleaned the entire switch and it works like a charm again. Wish i would have done that last night. So now besides other mods it is 100% back together and ready to ride.

I painted those PW badges to match also but some of the black paint ran so i might redo them.

It looks to me like when you let up, you'll short the white wire to ground, and blow a fuse (or the wiring!)

Pay no attention to the colors lol. I made that harness myself and the colors are not the same as a stock PW Harness. It is the same way the quad is set up

Ah.
Last time I had to re-wire, I did my best to use the same PW wire colors... I'm a little bit OCD that way

Yeah.... wire colors will bite you in the a$$. I rewired the cat tonight(put 2 harnesses together). There were 2 black wires(1 battery and 1 motor). When I traced them through the harness they must have crossed somewhere and I didn't catch it. POP! good thing I already had the fuse installed!

The white wire in the center turns to a red wire about 2 inches out of the pedal. The red wire goes yellow the same distance. I made my own harness to save money. I know it can catch up to ya..But dont worry...It's all in the noggin. LOL Like that is reassuring. If i ever sold it i would redo it or label it.

I'll tell ya what though. This sucker is fast!

I will post video tomorrow but the kid only rolled the 3Wheeler about 6 times....All he has to do is pull back on the bars when he hits the pedal and it pulls wheelies no problem. It is crazy fast but when he turns it just rolls. I need to try wider tires or something else to stop the roll. This makes a great drag strip racer though

I know all about the rolling of the trike. My boy rolled his Red Harley Trike but he was going down an embankment. That scared the ... out of me. He hoped up like what happened. I was not to thrilled. He doesnt understand the lean part.

Sdubb it is amazing how kids bounce right back.

Well i didn't have the camera handy but my 7yr old Nephew came over Monday and put the 3Wheeler through its paces. He was able to keep it from rolling. He had a few close calls when he was following my niece who was on the 4Wheeler and would try to match her turns. He ended up pulling a wheelie on it then ending up on his rear! He was OK..But the paint in the back is not so nice anymore.

Man, that first scratch really bleeds bad.......But now you can go run it hard! My daughter crashed the Dream Dazzler the other night. I am very glad I decided not to paint the bumpers!
