Posted - 09/16/2009 : 13:51:28 I am starting out with a very used 2001 G3740 Street Scene Silverado. What I am turning it into is a Halo 3 M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle a.k.a. Warthog. I'm calling it the Chupa Thingy based of a Halo machinima Red vs Blue. To complete project I am going to cut body to closely resemble the warthog. Second construct parts from hubcaps to towing hooks(tusks). Third bondo modifaction. forth cleaning. Lastly painting. Maybe later contruction on weapons systems, but not untill i finsh every thing else. Any input would be great.

I am working on getting it road legal. That's why i am working on making the middle roof like a roll cage just incase the unthinkable happens. I plan on dogging and wheeling the crap out of it. I going to put the full turret and gun on it too. Got the plans for the www.airsharp.com 616 screamer. Just got to mod it from six barrels to three barrels. When the gun isn't on it putting regular seat back there like in a jeep wrangler or troop carrier insert.

Posted - 11/18/2009 : 09:39:58 Good job man. I had seen one of these videos up on the 405th but didn't now who had done it. If you are wanting more reference shots of real life built warthogs go to www.405th.com and go to the forums. There are several shots of the Weta Warthog, in the elite section look for "operation chasity" There is the second complete warthog in the world for the fan film operation chasity. And i am working on a full size warthog based on 74 blazer chassis. I am hoping to have it done late 2010 and if i do would be the first completed one in the USA. My link is here. http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17755&st=0
Also on there are two others in the USA being worked on but they have been stalled for a while now. One link is here. http://www.darkforcez.com/warthog.html

Posted - 10/08/2009 : 15:14:14 That's the plan. Going to cut the louvered areas on top of the helmet to increase ventilation. Run a pair of 40mm fans blowing from the front and will pull air from the sides (painted black right now). Suit will be fully lit as well and I also plan to put an intercom system in the helmet with speakers in the towers on the shoulders.
flux83
Posted - 10/08/2009 : 14:50:33 Are you going to install a air system so your breath doesnt fog and/or heat up the helmet. I have worked on one before used vacume hose for the sides and inserted two small fans neer the back ofthe jaw. One fan sends air in the other sucks out, It worked very well at keeping it cumfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The power cable hooked to the back of the helmet and ran in to the chest plate where the battery for led and fans were kept as well as the swichs for them. It was my freinds costume but we should have taken pics and posted them online.

Posted - 10/08/2009 : 09:22:39 Now, you know what your son needs?
I'm in the process of making a full set of wearable armor of Master Chief for Halloween 2010. All of the pieces start out as 80# Cardstock that has been fiberglassed and painted. I still have to wire the LEDs and install the gold motorcycle visor.

looping them is easy just unscrew the caps on each end and discard on end, then snadwich the nylon strap ends between the halves of the other cap, you can also do this to chain them together. my rc turrent had a 500 round belt. the cats hated it you should wire it up to a button on the steeringwheel so it can be fired while being driven
nice

The rate of fire is insane at 9.6v but it has a tendancy to jam. 8.4 is fast and reliable. if your just shooting for show(no darts) 12-14.4v sounds like a minigun going off and drops a belt in less than 2 seconds. impressive for show.
yhat would be cool I could hook it to the pw batt, but i would need to add more belts to it and make it a loop.

Posted - 10/07/2009 : 12:48:52 Amazing..
I think that would bring a pretty penny on eBay..
Now that your boy has one, and you have learned as you went along, I think you should do the same thing to the next Silverado you find and see what it will fetch.. might pay for both of them plus some
flux83
Posted - 10/07/2009 : 12:00:56 took the vulcan apart. The orange front part made three cuts to remove excess plastic, cut two 1.25 inch holes in the front attached three 19.75 inch white thick wall pvc pipes. the shield is cut out of wood used two screws to attach and lastly paint.

so is therer a bolt in the middle or do you have the axle rod going all the way through
It's an axle rod.I will have the PVC drilled in the center then the outside of the PVC pipe will hold the axle in place. One side of the brush gaurd will be glued while the other side will have 2 screws in it.One at the top of the pipe and one at the bottom. That will make it easy for any repairs needed in the future. I am using NINJA quad parts so far so repairs(LMAO) will be needed. I may use an escalade gearbox instead and not have to worry about repairs.
The 2 hubs are bolted together internally with 2 bolts. The cut away picture shows what I am trying to type...LMAO
